About Me

Hola!

My name is Karen Pratt (or Mrs Pratt as my students call me).

I am an educator, music teacher, artist and illustrator.

I come from the beautiful land of Costa Rica and I live in the PNW with my husband, two warrior boys and a silly old dog.


I believe in the power music and arts have to change and improve lives, therefore everyone should have access to both!


I tailor my lessons to each student and adapt to their learning style and accept students of all abilities.


I feel honored to be part of each student's music and arts journey because I know the impact it'll have in their lives.

Private Lessons

  • I offer violin and piano lessons for young children ages 3.5-10 of all abilities.
  • Lessons are held at my home in Maple Valley, WA.
  • Parents are welcome to stay, but independence is encouraged.
  • If your child has significant disabilities this can be accommodated and in some cases the presence of the caregiver/parent might be necessary. 

Cost

  • $25 + tax per half-hour lesson
  • $38 + tax per 45 minute lesson
  • $50 + tax per full hour lesson.

*Discount available for siblings.

Music Class

Music Club

*Currently only offered during summer*


  • This is a 45 min small group class for children ages 4-9 years old.
  • It is held at my family home in Maple Valley, and outside if weather permits.
  • In this class kids have fun learning basic music concepts through songs, movement, picture books and art.
  • COST: $20+tax per student per class and includes all the class materials. Discount for siblings is available.


This summer's theme is "Music Instruments Families"

Summer Programs

I offer 6 weeks of summer programs every year, currently with two modalities:


-Individual instrument skills lessons (violin or piano): they last only 30min and are meant to work on specific instrument skills, I usually use a different curriculum than regular lessons.

-Music Club: please see the music club section here to read more about this modality.



Summer programs are very flexible, you sign up and pay per week.
